Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing BixBack — Quick and Simple on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

It's very useful considering the bezel less design of the S8, some things are just hard to reach.

YOU CAN'T ASSIGN ANY APP YOU WANT BUT HAVE ONLY A LIMITED OPTION.

Initial setup a bit more involved than normal, but functionality worth it. Would like to be able to set a custom function as I didnt see "open Camera" or camera shutter or anything like that, and that's the main thing I need the Bixby button to do. Will reinstall if options are expanded though. :)

About this app

BixBack uses the READ_LOGS permission to detect the moment the Bixby key is pressed. The application is the perfect balance of performance, without sacrificing battery or CPU. The application is so lightweight that it does not even have an a launcher icon.

This service has the only purpose for scanning for Bixby, and pressing the "back" key on any activity. For this to work, you must grant permissions via ADB. The command is as follows:

adb shell pm grant com.draco.bixback android.permission.READ_LOGS

Then kill the app from settings (or reboot) and enable the accessibility service. Next, turn off the Bixby page on press in the Bixby settings. Bixby voice is optional to turn off.

- HUGE announcement. BixBack is not the first rootless Bixby remapper that no longer requires any bixby packages to exist on the device. You can disable Bixby Voice and Bixby Home (and all other bixby apps), and the remapper will continue working. Enjoy!
