Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing xTAG Explorer on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

About this app

xTAG BLE Sensors support measuring acceleration data (G forces) on a variety of industrial machine types in all 3 dimensions. This data supports vibration analysis to forecast pending machine failures. xTAG BLE Sensor control and data acquisition is handled by the xTAG Explorer application.

Use the xTAG Explorer to:
- Discover xTAG Sensors that are nearby (within 1000 feet or 300 meters) using Bluetooth.
- Connect to xTAG Sensors.
- Calibrate xTAG Sensors in each of 3 dimensions.
- Stream real-time data and view detailed time and frequency domain charts.
- Export data streams and charts for later reference & more report options.

Deviceworx xTAG BEACONs support simple beacon transmission as well as NFC tapping to launch content, send a text message, make a phone call, show a location on a map or launch an app. NFC tap support exists on most Smartphones and many other devices including Smartwatches and tablets. No app is required. Up to 5 taps can initiate 5 different device actions (e.g.. tap once to view web content, tap twice to make a phone call, etc.).

Use the xTAG Explorer to:
- Discover xTAG BEACONs that are nearby (within 1000 feet or 300 meters) using Bluetooth.
- Connect to xTAG BEACONs.
- Monitor battery health.
- Change transmission strength.
- Set NFC tap actions for up to 5 taps.

Note that this app has been developed with tablets screen sizes in mind. It can be used on Smartphones, but may require considerable screen scrolling. Importantly - it has been validated on Samsung devices only. Testing on other tablets yielded poor results due to their poor BLE implementations.
