About this app

The Welfare Beniciary Database provides a forum in which organisations can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. We work with organisations to understand what drives economic, social and environmental change. We measure productivity and a communities flow of trade and investment. We analyse and compare data to predict future trends.

We also look at issues that directly affect everyone’s daily life, like how much people pay in food, shelter and clothing, and how much leisure time they can take. We compare how different education systems are readying their young people for modern life.

Drawing on facts and real-life experience, we recommend policies designed to improve the quality of people's lives. We are embarking on working with business, through the relevant business chambers, and with labour, through the Trade Unions. The common thread of our work is a shared commitment to the local economies and focused on the wellbeing of all of humanity. Along the way, we also set out to make life harder for dodgers, crooked folk and others whose actions undermine a fair and open society.

Today, we are focused on helping communities around the South Africa to:

1.) Restore confidence in markets and the institutions that make them function.
2.) Re-establish healthy public finances as a basis for future sustainable economic growth.
3.) Foster and support new sources of growth through innovation, environmentally friendly ‘green growth’ strategies and the development of emerging economies.
4.) Ensure that people of all ages can develop the skills to work productively and satisfyingly in the jobs of tomorrow.

The Welfare Beniciary Database core values:

Objective: Our analyses and recommendations are independent and evidence-based.
Open: We encourage debate and a shared understanding of critical issues.
Bold: We dare to challenge conventional wisdom starting with our own.
Pioneering: We identify and address emerging and long term challenges.
Ethical: Our credibility is built on trust, integrity and transparency.
