This app worked for a long time and I really liked it: 5 stars while it worked for months. Recently though, something happened and it no longer functions. Seems to hang at "listen" (doesn't provide audible feedback, and "listen" button continues to be grayed-out). Tried un-installing and re-installing - no luck. If it were working again, back to 5 stars... I have a Gear S3. It worked from January thru May-ish, so some update then (in 2020) must have broken it...

I really wanted this to work, but I ended up disappointed that it didn't. I gave two stars because it's a great concept. I followed all the steps, everything worked as it was supposed to. Boom get to the end where you press (Listen) on your watch and it's grayed out. Uninstalled and reinstalled both the phone app and the companion app. Restarted both devices several times. Check different settings but I couldn't get it to work so maybe my watch is not supported Samsung Galaxy S3 Frontier.

Yes, it took some serious internet digging to figure out how to give this app the Google setup it needed, but Bart Pang (in the FB group for Galaxy watches) was a marvelous help, providing detailed instructions. I am a 71-yr-old grandma and no guru, so if I can do it anyone can. Just take your time and go slowly, following each step carefully---I'm speaking of the Google part. TIP: When you're creating the Google API, be sure to select "TV App" so you can then obtain the key file you need to download. Even though it sounds strange, that's the option you need. Then the app will install easily. It must be on your phone first, then your watch. And you have to do the Google stuff first to get the permission file on your phone or the app won't work. I hated Bixby (which seldom worked anyway) and absolutely love GAssist. it is just so much fun, and truly helpful. The only negative would be that "at this time" it cannot make calls or send texts, but that's a Google limitation, not the developer of this app. I have to revert to the use of Bixby for that. It's still a 5-star app for me.

Works great, but you're giving broad access to your Google account. They will access your photos, Google drive, and everything else. I noticed app loaded two APK files in my Google Drive. God only knows what they did there. You might be selling your soul to the devil. Know the risk before proceeding.

It was a long process to get it to work and I'm not even sure I did it right, but when I open the app, it shuts down not long after. And when I try to run it on my Galaxy Active 2 it says that I need to configure the phone app and from there, I'm stuck.

This is great! I've just replaced a WearOS watch with a Samsung Active 2 watch and missed having the Google assistant. Now I have it back again! The video tutorial for getting the app authorised and the credentials needs updating though, as my experience was quite a lot different. I got there in the end though and am very happy. I've set it to activate on home button double-press and I can still use Bixby (if I need to) with voice activation.
