This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Automute on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.

About this app

Have you ever forgot to mute your phone at a business meeting or in the cinema? Maybe you haven't heard your phone when you walked in noisy city? If yes, Automute is an application for you.

With Automute you can adjust the ringtone volume for some place, hours or days of week:
- Never forget to mute your phone
- Raise ringtone volume in noisy place
- Quick and easy setup
- Customize the ringtone volume when you remember, the application will adjust ringtone volume for proper place or time

Make sure that you have newest phone updates and you are logged into Google account.

Tips for location setup:
- Keep enabled localisation and Wifi (or WiFi scanning to limit battery usage - advanced Wifi option)
- Use localization high accuracy mode (GPS and network)
- If you have incorrect position on the map (or a blue area) try to change localization mode to use Wi-Fi, mobile networks or GPS
- Set up the largest possible radius. Try to experiment, if you enter location repeatedly
- Some old devices need update Google Play Services to work properly with maps
- Location change detection is highly dependent on hardware, updates may be a little delayed

Automute requires permissions below to work properly:
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION - to detect location change when you set ringtone volume for some place
- MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS, ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY, VIBRATE - to change ringtone volume
- ACCESS_WIFI_STATE - only to detect if network is available and display warning if not (to improve location accurracy)
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED - to handle phone restarts
- INTERNET - to show advertisements

Remarks:
- Accuracy of time measurement in Doze mode (deep sleep mode, since Android 6.0) is limited to 9 minutes - add some time buffer before event if needed. When device battery is almost drain time accuracy may be even 15 minutes.
- Some device don't distinguish vibrate and silent mode - choose vibration mode from Android sound settings
