The red color is sort of what you'd expect to see on an airplane dashboard at night. To the down-voters complaining about not being able to adjust it: use the volume buttons. To those down-voters complaining that it doesn't do anything: you need a device with a barometer. Note to developer: the back button should let you exit the app.

I like the fact that it's Night Vision compatible. I don't like the fact that it's not Metric. Is there any chance of this problem being solved?

Does not work on Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Shows me at MSL

That was a waste of space. Doesn't move. Don't even know what it shows. No options. Why feets? Feets always stinks, go metric! Minimum 1 star, no minus score?

Does not allow adjustments for barometer setting.

Plain and simple! I love it!

About this app

NOT A FLIGHT INSTRUMENT
NOT FOR NAVIGATION

A bare bones pressure altimeter just like the one in an airplane (except red, for some reason). There are no additional features: if an airplane altimeter doesn't do it, this app won't do it. Unless you count "being red" as a feature.

Uses the pressure sensor in your Android device and the altimeter setting you provide to estimate your altitude. Don't have a pressure sensor? In that case, it pretends you're at sea level. Just to make it clear: this app won't show your altitude unless your device has a pressure sensor inside.

New to altimetry? Check Wikipedia to learn more about altimeter settings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altimeter). Then check your nearest, most recent METAR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/METAR) to learn the correct altimeter setting for your area.

Instructions:
Use the volume buttons to change your altimeter setting.
Long-press anywhere to toggle debug information.

Features:
Kalman filter smooths out sensor noise
Requires no special permissions at all
Free, no ads, code is public domain!

Limitations:
Imperial units only (feet, inches of mercury)
Pressure altitude only: does not integrate GPS altitude
