Comcast customer here. I was having a lot of trouble with slow connections and browsing with Comcast's DNS servers, and since Android doesn't let you change settings, I tried this app to switch to OpenDNS. I verified that I am actually on OpenDNS's servers (to make sure this isn't malware), and browsing is MUCH faster now. Data transfer speeds are about the same, but the slowness came from long DNS resolution times, which this app solved. Well worth the price to disable ads, IMO.

Great but keeps disconnecting itself. Meaning I have to keep opening and connecting every now and then. Switching battery to unrestricted did not help. The disconnecting happens most frequently on mobile (which is used away from home), at home I use the wifi. Using free edition, wish there was an automatic reconnect setting. Also, wish it would start on boot. Otherwise it would defeat it's purpose. I want DNS settings to be permanent and over mobile and all wifi's.

Straight away, tons of full-screen ads are present, making everything confusing and hard to use. Also had to agree to a lot of tracking and indefinite storage of user data and internet usage data that is described in many pages of agreement legalese which only an attorney would be able to understand. Prevention of user data collection is one of the primary reasons a person would want to use a DNS changer in the first place. So thanks, but no.

I just don't really see the difference when it comes to improvement on my data connection. I have unlimited 5G data on the new OnePlus N10, yet I still have times where my data connection just seems rather non-existent. However, when using the app, it seems at times to provide a more consistent connection? But then it will have periods where my data won't work at all because of the DNS change. I'm wondering if I should stick to just utilizing android's DNS server setting(s).

I heard about this app from Gadget Hacks, because I'm sick and tired of pop up ads and those new ads that appear as a cartoon character in a bubble floating across the screen, waiting for you to click on it. Admittedly I'm not very tech savvy, so I went to the YouTube tutorial which led to the website. What's coming up when I install the app looks nothing like what the tutorial shows.

Something caused slow loading on my phone. YouTube would spin for 30 seconds to load, commercial inserts took their time as well. I download DNS Changer and all of a sudden my video streaming is back to life. YouTube, Pluto TV cache on my 4G phone like it always did fresh out the box. It's the bandaid I needed for always connecting to the fastest DNS servers to hit my cell tower. It works, I'm happy for try it!!

About this app

DNS Changer is the easiest way to change your DNS and test the speed of DNS servers. Works without root and works for both WiFi and Mobile Network Data Connection.

The DNS Changer change’s your device’s DNS address, not affecting your connection speed in any way. So, it is faster than a regular VPN. Install DNS Changer for Android and try it yourself!

Why to change DNS?

• Browse privately

How does it improve my internet connection?
If you have a high-speed Internet connection but notice that your web browsing speed isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be, then your problem may lie in the DNS. By optimizing your device's DNS records, you can find the fastest routes for your data packets to take when traveling the Internet. It won’t boost to your download/upload speed, but in some cases it can result in quite a noticeable improvement in web browsing time.

At times, you may experience slow hiccups while trying to use the internet from your device. Sometimes, these problems can be attributed to your provider's DNS settings because your ISP may not always have the best DNS server speeds.

Your default DNS server directly affects how fast you’ll be able to connect to a website. So choosing the fastest server according to your location will help speed up browsing.

With DNS Changer, you can find the fastest DNS server and connect to it with just one touch!
So your browsing speed and gaming experience (ping and latency) can be improved. (But you should remember that DNS settings will not affect your internet download / upload speed but response time)

Test results showed a 132.1 percent improvement from using Google's DNS servers over using the stock DNS servers, but in real world usage, it might not be exactly that much faster. Still, this one tweak might get you finally feeling like you have a blazing connection to the internet!

With DNS Speed Test feature:

• Find & Connect the fastest DNS server based on your location & network.

Required Permissions And Privacy Notes

VPNService: DNS Changer uses VPNService base class to create DNS & VPN connection.

- For DNS: When your Android device connects to the Internet from a specific network, your address on the Internet (the location of your Android device in the virtual network) is called the IP address. And the IP address is a code system consisting of encrypted numbers. DNS Changer processes these numbers as site addresses by using DNS servers, and the address can be reached when searched in this way.

For VPN: DNS Changer opens an encrypted (meaning crypto) tunnel from its physical location to the opposite network. Information transmitted through this tunnel is encrypted and cannot be viewed from the outside. DNS Changer acts as a virtual network adapter with the help of the specialized network driver on your android device, giving you an IP number from the opposite network.
