About this app

Hazen William Equation is used to measure the pressure drop of water through a pipe. The equation is mainly used for water (not other fluids), and sees its application in fire sprinkler design, irrigation networks, and other systems that involves the use of solely water. In this App, use inputs the internal pipe diameter, flow rate, pipe length and pipe flow coefficient (also known as the Hazen William roughness constant, and usually denoted as C), and the calculator will calculate the pressure drop. The calculator works for both US units (i.e. gpm, psi, ft, in ) and metric units (L/min, bar, m, mm). It should be noted that the Hazen William equation is an empirical equation, where the equation is derived from experimental observations rather than first principles.
