Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing World Scribe on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.

Works very well! One issue, though, is that inputting a "/" causes an error, and doesn't create the file. So use "\", "-", "|", or similar special characters instead. This is a common and understandable issue, so I hold nothing against the app developers because of this minor inconvenience. Edit: Also occurs with "." (period.)

So far, so good! I downloaded the app today and have already gotten quite a bit of work done with it. It's clean and easy to use, and I love the way it links everything together. Just two things I would add; an advanced text editor, (namely capitalizing sentence beginnings and have bold, italic, etc.) and being able to create your own categories. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into this app. It is a great tool for GM and novelist alike. (I'm even going to use it for both!) -A

Wrote a review for this a while ago, and had it mysteriously vanish.. this app has had an issue where it duplicates articles several times, and then makes them impossible to delete. Two of my worlds are now clogged with empty articles, and it is making the app unusable. Please fix this.

Cant import worlds I've created on other devices. Dropbox linkup only backs it up. Meaning I just lost all the info since it was on my old dead tablet... Upsetting, but I figured i would give it another go. However I immediately ran into more problems. Renamed an article and it just made a new one. So i tried to delete it instead and it made a copy of it. I could delete the copy, but not the original. It just makes another copy when I try. Not worth using sadly, maybe someday it will be better.

Great app, one reccomendation, make sub catagories ex: locations might go continent-state-cities, etc so that people can more easily find stuff in a large world. if you could do that id never even think about an alternative to this app, I have not found one bug so far so props for that! Keep up the good work!

FEATURES

- World elements — known as Articles — are organized into five categories for your convenience:

 * People - your colorful cast of characters

 * Groups - people united by blood, race, or a driving motivation

 * Places - the varied locales and vistas your world has to offer

 * Items - gadgets, important artifacts, and various belongings

 * Concepts - definitions for world-specific ideas like magic systems, religions, and superpowers

- Any Article can possess Connections to other Articles, complete with relationship descriptions. Each Connection also acts as a link to that Article's page. Need to find a character's siblings, or the ancient artifacts on their person? You can navigate to each of them straight from that character's page.

- Any Article can also possess Snippets, which are custom text entries unique to that Article. Want to write down an important letter or speech from one of your characters? How about a song or poem warning of a dangerous location in the world? The possibilities are endless!

- Everything you write is stored in simple text files, so feel free to export your worlds at any time and use them in other writing projects. You can find them in the "WorldScribe" folder on your phone's external storage.

- Have a Dropbox account? You can backup each of your worlds to your Dropbox account for easy exporting and added safety (in case the Dark Lord seizes your device). To backup, just select the "Backup to Dropbox" option from the overflow menu at any time.
