What is Altimeter?

Why we use Altimeter?

Have you any questions in your mind to find my height above sea level? Mountaineers can measure their altitude by measuring the air pressure around them. This is called indicated altitude and is measured by an instrument called an altimeter. As the altitude rises, air pressure drops.

Limitations of Altimeter

Altimeters not equipped with mechanical stops near the barometric scale limits can be set with a 10,000-foot error.
