I want to love this app & benefit from its advertised features. But time after time it just hasn't worked on my device. It doesn't block apps I've signed in to block, it stops working unexplainably, it lets in sites I don't want. Customer service can be hard to get. For the price, I expect more. I hope the glitches can be worked out, because the idea is great!

Great app. Well worth the money. You can restrict apps, even restrict the Web Guard browser to just a few websites, set time limits for apps. It cannot be uninstalled without a password. Liked it better than other app lock apps because you can block the browser except for a few sites.

Works well to block apps but useless when browsing the internet. Freezes up and stops working, which leaves the device unprotected.

About this app

Mobile Web Guard is the safe mobile browser that protects the user from objectionable Internet content and harmful applications. Mobile Web Guard runs on smartphones and tablets. Mobile Web Guard works as a typical unfiltered web browser until and unless you decide to create an account with American Family Online, and register your device with the account information. At that time, all features (to include application blocking, customizable web filtering, Parental Controls, Internet time scheduling, activity reports, and more) become available and controllable from any web browser. For more information please visit http://www.mobilewebguard.com/.

As Mobile Web Guard II is a parental control app, we are binding Device Admin (android.permission.BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN) to make sure that Mobile Web Guard II is more secure.
This information is disclosed to the user during installation of app and enabled with user's consent. Same is also documented in privacy policy.

Mobile Web Guard features:
- uses a dynamic cloud-based content filtering engine.
- works with both WiFi and 3G.
- offers a rich browser-interface.
- can intercept both http and https based websites.

Fast and reliable:
To maximize speed and increase reliability, filtering is done through a remote server, not on the mobile device.

Filter criteria is always up-to-date:
You never have to update the filter criteria because everything is professionally maintained at the server level through human and automated methods.

Custom Internet site blocking:
You can make the filter more strict by adding sites and even configuring it as a white-list filter blocking everything except what you specify.

Control time spent on the Internet:
Restricting Internet access teaches children to optimize their browsing time and use it in a resourceful way.

Control Applications:
Block applications to protect the mobile device user from objectionable content and/or prevent potential methods to bypass the filter.

Monitor Internet Activity:
Receive a daily email report of all Internet activity occurring on the mobile device.

Restrict unauthorized changes or removal:
Administrator or parent must log in to the filter in order to remove it, preventing unauthorized removal.

Remote Management:
Manage and maintain internet policies with the help of powerful remote management tools. Receive requests from the family members and unblock any website through the administrator console.

Notice:
Mobile Web Guard II is a replacement for Mobile Web Guard which was available via Google Play Store from August 2012 through August 2015. Mobile Web Guard was suspended August 2015 due to a tightening of security at Google Play Store. The reason for removal had to do with how MWG reacts to unauthorized removal attempts (for example, if a parent obtains the app for a child and the child attempts removal without permission). We removed the offending bit of code and replaced it with an approved version.
