About this app

DESCRIPTION

Accuware Dragonfly is a technology which performs accurate 3D positioning of mono-camera devices.

The application is an example of an Android integration of the Dragonfly SDK. This is our latest product: a computer vision-based indoor positioning system (IPS) capable of delivering a mobile device’s location with high accuracy without need for infrastructure and minimal site preparation.

TECHNOLOGY

Accuware Dragonfly is a visual SLAM-based system. In brief: Dragonfly uses a camera to perform Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM), a technique described as “… the computational problem of constructing or updating a map of an unknown environment while simultaneously keeping track of an agent’s location within it “. The agent in question is a device equipped with a camera, most likely here an Android device.

Dragonfly uses the device’s camera to analyze its surroundings, map the environment around it, and determine its location in reference to its physical context. This data can be shared with our cloud system, and the position can be monitored directly from the Accuware Dashboard (https://dashboard.accuware.com).

A minimal site setup is required: at least 3 markers must be placed throughout the site. Markers are similar to QR codes. They can be created through the Accuware Dashboard. Markers encode specific location coordinates, and are used by Dragonfly to initialize its position. They are easily generated on a regular printer.

FEATURES

- Compute in real-time the 3D location of mono-camera devices.
- Remotely monitor devices and locations in the Accuware Dashboard (https://dashboard.accuware.com).
