Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Mobile Witness on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

Being a person of color in these trying times , having access to your app makes me feel so much safer when out in public..thank God I haven't had to use it yet. Doesn't seem compatible with Note 9. All it does is crash. Completely useless. Do not rely on this app in an emergency situation.

Just downloaded and changed a couple settings and the app crashed twice. Tried to record but the camera froze. Promptly deleted this. Moto g7.

About this app

Mobile Witness is an application for collecting potential evidence through your mobile phone by continually recording and safely uploading location, audio, or video footage. Recordings will even continue whilst the screen is turned off.

"Mobile Witness is a solid defence against aggressive persons and dubious law enforcement officers; periodically and silently uploading the recordings."

The purpose of this application is twofold:
• overcome situations where the phone may be stolen or destroyed during recording, and,
• to enable covert evidence gathering.

Normal recording applications are not suitable for evidence gathering tasks as they make sounds upon starting the recording and stop recording when the screen is turned off. Alternative upload strategies such as cloud backups fail in situations where the phone may be damaged as they will only upload completed recordings.

Issues

Discontinuation
Due to Google continuously removing legitimate OS functionality with each version of Android, it is impossible for this app to work as intended for newer Android versions. We will no longer be maintaining this app effective May 2019. The current MW version should work for Oreo (8) and below.
