Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Compass on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

About this app

Navigational Compass for Android devices that utilise calibrated hardware sensors.

Note: This app can also be used to check if you have hardware sensors and, if so, the accuracy of your sensors (if you already know which way is North.)

Keep in mind that the sensors in your phone may be affected by various objects - metals, phone covers, etc., etc.
So remember to use this app as an approximation only.

Also worth noting: Some devices constantly need their sensors calibrated. Calibration may be achieved by opening this Compass app, or any other Compass type app, then turning your phone over a few times left to right, right to left, front to back, and back to front.

04/03/2014 - Major upgrade. Updated the technology to use the ACCELEROMETER and MAGNETIC_FIELD sensors rather than the old deprecated ORIENTATION sensor which most Compass apps surprisingly, and incorrectly, still use!
