About this app

The Equal Treatment App (Gleichbehandlungs:App) has two essential parts:
One part includes information on services and on accessibility of the Ombud for Equal Treatment (OET) and on the Equal Treatment Act. The address is supported by a landscape. Direct links to the homepage of OET and the Equal Treatment Act are offered. A newsletter of OET can be ordered directly. Examples and pictures show typical discriminatory situations.
The other part provides the possibility to describe, save and/or send experienced or observed discriminatory situations. The discriminatory situation(s) can be described in words, alleged discriminatory grounds can be selected. The functions for date, time and adding photos are programmed. Persons or organizations responsible for the (alleged) discrimination can be added. The records can be protected by a pin code. Persons can send selected or all records anonymously or with consultation request to the Ombud for Equal Treatment and/or to persons of their choice.

The Ombud for Equal Treatment (OET) is a subordinate office of the Federal Chancellery of Austria. OET is very keen to inform persons about their rights in the scope of equality and non-discrimination and to support them in case of discrimination. OET offers free and confidential advice and support. Nevertheless experience and surveys show that under- reporting is a big issue. The app should enhance the opportunities to get in touch with OET and the opportunities to keep records on experienced or observed discriminatory situations in an easy and modern way. OET will undertake a big event on 7th October. Participants will be in particular multipliers e.g. non government organizations trade unions or institutions of education. This app should be presented first at this event because it is an excellent opportunity to promote the “Gleichbehandlungs:App” (Equal Treatment:App).
