QR-code (English Quick Response Code) - a type of matrix barcodes (or two-dimensional barcodes)
QR code uses four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, binary and kanji) to store data efficiently; extensions can also be used.
The QR system allows for quick reading and greater capacity. Extensions include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, and general marketing.
A QR code consists of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by imaging devices such as a smartphone camera and processed using Reed-Solomon codes until the image is properly recognized. The required data is then extracted from the templates that are present in the horizontal and vertical components of the image.
The goal of the development is not only to increase the amount of code information, but also to "read accurately and quickly", as well as to make the code readable and resistant to oil stains, dirt and damage, assuming that it will be used in the respective industries.
Unlike the old barcode, which is scanned with a thin beam, the QR code is detected by a sensor or camera as a two-dimensional image. Three squares in the corners of the image and smaller sync squares throughout the code normalize the image size and orientation, as well as the angle at which the sensor is located to the image surface. Dots are converted to binary numbers with checksum checking.
The main advantage of a QR code is its easy recognition by scanning equipment, which makes it possible to use it in trade, production, and logistics.
