Clear picture and light works on OnePlus 6 with Android 8.1. Note if you zoom to 100% it hangs and the only way to continue is an exit of the app and re-enter. I have seen this with one other magnifier app so maybe it is a hardware issue on the phone? Small unobtrusive apps at top of the phone which don't get in the way.
