Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Ecological Network App on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

About this app

Citizen Science Application for mapping of wildlife footprints and feces. Currently twelve different wildlife species which are relevant for monitoring of ecological networks are supported. Furthermore the documentation of land use by taking standardized images is supported. Another functionality is the reporting of land scape elements with barrier effect.

The application can also be used offline. Campaigns and their background maps can be cached on the device. All mapping data are stored locally and can be uploaded as soon as a mobile network is available. After the upload all the mapping data will be available in the following web portal, assuming that the verification by wildlife ecologists was successful.

Mapping can be spatially restricted for single campaigns to reduce the data volume of the offline cache. Furthermore the mapping can be spatially restricted for single Points of Interest (POI) or transects.

For different target groups (for example elementary school | hunting association) specific campaigns can be configured. Please contact us if you are interested and need the configuration of a specific campaign.
