法の目的
社会福祉士及び介護福祉士の資格を定めて、その業務の適正を図り、もって社会福祉の増進に寄与することを目的としています。（法第1条）

法律の概要
介護福祉士は、専門的知識及び技術をもって、身体上若しくは精神上の障害があることにより日常生活を営むのに支障がある者につき心身の状況に応じた介護（喀痰吸引等を含みます）を行ない、並びにその者及びその介護者に対して介護に関する指導を行なうこと（以下「介護等」といいます）を業とする者で、国家試験に合格又は養成施設を修了した者が所定の登録を受けることにより、介護福祉士の資格を取得できるものです。
介護福祉士国家試験は、介護福祉士として必要な知識及び技能について行ないます。
