I like the app overall but it would be nice if when i tapped a notification for a recall that it took me to that recall post instead of showing me a list from over a week ago. 4-8-20 Update: All of the notifications stopped working on my Samsung A10. Suggestions? Or please fix.

Notifications about recalls don't show full product description details, making them fairly useless and almost all of what shows in notifications is not on the recalls page. The "filter by date" function only allows you to view an entire month at a time (e.g., February 2019) and for some reason, defaults to 2006. I could forgive that quirk if it actually worked, tho. For example, just now I had notifs for 4 recalls, none are on recalls page so I guess I just have to check the FDA site. Pointless.

This app is a data hog. I opened it up twice for less than 15 minutes each time, and in a period of a week, unbeknownst to me, it used 1.15 gigs of data! I got a data warning from my phone. Needless to say, I was shocked and immediately uninstalled. No other app has come even close to this consumption. I've never received a warning before for any other app. Beware.

Recall notifications do not work! How many users have to complain about this before it gets fixed?!?!

Since 5/2019 - Bugs: When I click on a Notification, I am brought to the list of older notices. I am not able to see the intended notice and when I click on the back arrow I am taken out of the app. So I never get to see the notice. Frustrating..

Previously 5 stars but since Android Pie update I do not get notifications. Notifications turned on in app. Notifications allowed in Android settings. I now have to check the app. to see recalls. Please fix.

About this app

The FoodKeeper can help consumers use food while at peak quality and reduce waste. The storage times listed are intended as useful guidelines and are not hard-and-fast rules. Some foods may deteriorate more quickly while others may last longer than the times suggested. The times will vary depending on the growing conditions, harvesting techniques, manufacturing processes, transportation and distribution conditions, nature of the food, and storage temperatures. Remember to buy foods in reasonable quantities and rotate the products in your pantry, refrigerator, and freezer.

Every year, billions of pounds of good food go to waste in the U.S. because consumers are not sure of its quality or safety. Food waste from households represents about 44% of all food waste generated in the U.S. By reducing food waste through buying appropriate quantities, storing foods properly, cooking what is needed and composting, consumers can save money and reduce the amount of food going to landfills.
