I've decided to give it a 5 out of 5 rating because it has provided the 80% solution that has allowed and enabled my son to gain his stability and independence through daily dosage reminders and tracking that indicates missed doses. He has been consistent on the device for over a month and his mental and physical state has made a 180 degree turn around for the better. My feedback on what can make the app interface and unit even more effective are as follows: 1) To compensate for the short window of dosage, I had to set separate early alerts on my sons cell phone. The get the app notification working, I had to enable app permission to contacts. It only vibrates and won't alarm on the phone. 2) In order for the PIN change to take affect after changing it, I had to turn the unit off and then on. 3) In order for some updates to take affect on our phones, I had to delete the user account and generate new access PINS for the owner, helper and friend. 4) In order for statistic reset to work on the app, I had to log out and then log back in. 5) My son only takes single doses, so missed doses on occasions is not a issue for him since the medication has a long half life. We have a pillwise for an elderly patient who does not always remember to take her medicine. The device itself is well designed and attractive. It has a reasonable interface for managing it, loading it and dispensing pills. We have found, however, that it is not yet usable for the following reasons: 1) A dose is available for only 30 minutes after the scheduled time. After that it is no longer available. The only way access a past dose is to tell pillwise that you are emptying the machine entirely or to tell pillwise that you are reloading the doses. In either case you need to move all remaining doses to the starting position...error prone and time consuming. 2) When a dose becomes available pillwise gives one 20-30 notification sound. The notification is not repeated. If the patient is out of the room, or does not hear the notification. too bad. Pillwise support has been very good at responding. They said that a sofware patch for #1 will be available "soon" in late August and again last week. Not available yet. They also understand why at least an option for repeating the reminder tone every few minutes until the dose is taken is needed, but there is not date for this enhancement
