About this app

Diabetes Companion is the ultimate app for diabetes patients. Developed with help of diabetes doctors, the app aims to help diabetes patients in their everyday life.

Diabetes Type 1:
The patient can log blood sugar measurements, insulin intake, meal intake, and physical exercise.

The app then computes recommendations based on the functionnal insulin therapy method:
•  computes the recommended insulin intake based on blood sugar measurements and meals (carbohydrates).
•  computes carbohydrates to be taken prior to a physical exercise.
•  suggests physical exercise after a meal, when the latter meets requirements for a physical exercise.

When the app recommends a meal of specific carbohydrates amount, it allows the patient to look for all foods having the specific carbohydrates amount, based on the United States Department of Agriculture API.

Diabetes Type 2:

The patient can log blood sugar measurements, meal intake, and physical exercise.

The app allows to search for foods by name, type, and specific amount of energy (kcal). It also retrieves foods data (carbohydrates and energy), using the USDA API.
