Super easy to collect sample. Instructions were very clear and easy to understand. A prepaid/ envelope with the return address was also provided.

So far, the app is generally easy-to-use/ maneuver through, and works well. It is a wee bit glitchy in that I've had to do a few of the surveys more than once before they register as complete by the app. As of today, it isn't acknowledging I ha e finished the stress survey at all, even though it's completely done. Overall, it's a fair app and I'm excited to be able to participate in the study. Am looking forward to receiving my kit.

I provide sample. Months later, I repeatedly ask about results. Eventually OHSU asks me to submit new sample. For some reason (won't tell me detail) sample can't be processed. They deleted surveys I completed. I submit new sample. 20 months since 1st sample still no result. Again contact OHSU. They haven't processed sample yet. Can't tell me when. I see emails recruiting more people to provide samples. Now they'll even mail the kit to you. Is this even ethical? ..21 months and still waiting.

Can't get past sign up. Asks me to sign a waiver then goes to a login page before asking to create login info. Tried uninstalling, forgot password button. Too bad, I really wanted to participate.

Seems pretty straight forward. Only having issues with stress survey not registering as complete, and the cancer history survey has reappeared a day after I had completed it and was removed from available surveys.

User friendly with simple instructions to follow. Hopefully it will be informative as well.

About this app

You are invited to join the Healthy Oregon Project (HOP) – a research study that combines genetic cancer screening, using a saliva sample, with surveys about a person’s environment, behaviors, and lifestyle to understand their risks for cancer and other diseases.

With this app you can:
• Review the study information and consent to participate
• Complete surveys about your health habits and environment to aid us in early detection research and allow us to follow your health for as long as you choose to participate
• Find out where and how to donate a saliva sample for genetic screening
• View your genetic screening results, which are provided at no cost, and will identify whether your DNA indicates a risk for certain inheritable diseases.
• Get updates about the study and health resources

We anticipate enrolling more than 100,000 people in the study. Feel free to share this app with your friends and family. Any adult living in Oregon or SW Washington may join. Initial funding for this project comes from the Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center (CEDAR), a part of the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) Knight Cancer Institute.
