About this app

This application is a supplement to the PHG2000L. The PHG2000L is a personal health gateway that allows patients to take measurements with compliant personal health devices and deliver them to a health care provider. The Companion app serves two basic purposes. First it scans for any PHG2000L units that are powered up and displays basic information about the found units in a list. The user can interface to the PHG2000L from this display. Second it allows the PHG2000L owner to setup a (1) new, (2) reset, or (3) updated unit allowing the unit to self-provision. Since the PHG2000L is a headless unit, the companion app is analogous to a remote control unit for the PHG2000L.

When the application starts, it scans for any PHG2000L units that are powered up and displays them in a list. One of the fields displayed will be the IP address of the PHG2000L.
The user can press this button to interface to the PHG2000L's administrative GUI giving the user control of some of the PHG2000L's functions including pairing personal health devices.

If the PHG2000L does not have an IP address, it needs to be provided with one in order to function and self-configure. The button will have 'Set Wifi'. Pressing this button will bring the user to a new page that displays a list of currently available wireless networks. The user selects the desired network, enters any password that is needed for the network, and from there the app connects to PHG2000L and allows the PHG2000L to self-configure. The user will be brought to a page that displays the progress of the configuration.

This version of the Companion application changes the workflow of version 1.0.1. In that version, starting the app would display a list of wifi networks from which one could try and configure PHG2000L units. The app would configure the first PHG2000L unit it found that needed configuration (if any).

This workflow has been replaced by what is believed to be a much simpler and more deterministic workflow. The user is first shown what PHG2000L units are active and in range. The configuration option is ONLY possible if a discovered PHG2000L unit needs configuration. If more than one units need configuration, only the selected unit is configured.

The Health@Home Companion uses Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with the PHG2000L through a proprietary protocol. It replaces the old Health@Home Setup application which used the PHG2000L wireless access points. Only versions 3.0.14 and up of the PHG2000L support this configuration protocol over Bluetooth LE.

New features

Updated to support new LNI gateways with their new protocol and potential support for cellular and dialup configurations. Use of pre-2.0.0 versions of this app with the new gateways will cause the app to crash. This app works with both versions.
