Body mass index (BMI) is a calculation of the number of a person's weight and height. The value of BMI is obtained from the weight in kilograms divided by the quadrature of the height in meters (kg / m2). The value of BMI in adults does not depend on age or gender. However, BMI may not correspond to the degree of obesity in different populations, in part, due to the difference in body proportions to them.
