This used to be a perfectly good App that allowed me to plan, follow and record routes. As I paid for premium I had access to all Ordnance Survey maps and many more. Then 18 months ago they sold out to Outdoor Active which is a rubbish App that keeps crashing when in use, is more difficult to use to plan routes and is more expensive for the OS maps. It seems the people who ran View Ranger were far more concerned with lining their own pockets than with customer service.

Its easy and convenient to use. Lots of data recorded. I love to use it along with my smart watch. They both show about the same distance ( may be around 5% difference- ViewRanger's shorter). Very dependable and connects with GPS instantly comparing to my smartwatch which takes some time to get connected. Great app! Highly recommend!!

My subscription was due for renewal and was pushed towards renewing via Outdoor Active. Looking at the reviews of OA I was sceptical so took the trial option to test the water. My summary is that VR is a tool, OA is a toy lacking many of features that differentiates VR from the rest. I wont use it again. Question...if I buy a Premium subscription through OA will that allow me to use the Ordnance Survey maps in VR?

I am still using this, in spite of the fact that Outdoor Active have removed the subscription feature and a number of other items. I have looked at the OA app and it is nowhere near as good. It has imported my routes but I can't print or publish them with OS map tiles - as I still can with VR if I buy credits and download tiles.

Really useful app. Or was until the merger with Outdoor Active. Just been notified my VR account will cancel on my renewal date (5/6/21) and now it's no longer connected to OA, which says I have to pay for the already merged Pro version, so I'll lose all my tracks. Piss poor form.

Love this app. It's easy to create routes and follow them - and it you want to go off your planned route, you have the whole OS map downloaded on your phone. I tour off-road a lot and the app is ideal. Yes, it has it's limitations, but I never get lost with ViewRanger. HOWEVER, it seems that in the future, much of the functionality will be forfeited by the merger (takeover?) with the wholly inferior OutdoorActive. My star rating for the app will decrease to 2 under OutdoorActive ownership.
