About this app

Former Major League Pitcher Randy Wells Began his professional career being drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2002 out of Southwestern Illinois College. Known for his excellent defense and strong throwing arm Wells quickly made his mark as one of the best catchers in the country during his days at SWIC. Wells’ catching career however ended just 2 seasons into pro ball when scouts decided that the use of his arm and tall frame would be better suited on the mound. That switch paid greatly as wells turned in a solid career pitching in the Major Leagues with the Toronto Bluejays and the Chicago Cubs for 6 seasons. Wells’ career was cut short due to an elbow injury. He now resides in his hometown of Belleville, IL. with his wife Caroline. The couple are expecting their first child in December.

Wells’ vision to open K3 started in 2013 shortly after retiring when he took a position at Lindenwood University (Belleville Campus) as a volunteer Assistant Coach. Wells made the transition to coaching and enjoyed every minute and knew that it would be his future. Growing up in the area and enduring the cold winters is a tough deal for local athletes including baseball players. Indoor space is at a premium and only a handful batting cage only facilities are located on the Illinois side of the river. This is where K3 Academy idea was born. To provide an Academy style facility where athletes can get everything they need under one roof on the Illinois side of the river. K3’s facility with a full turf infield, 7 batting cages, and a full gym. We also feature strength and conditioning coaches on staff as well as Randy Wells who cages1specializes in pitching and defense instruction. When you step inside K3 for the first time you will see a facility was built with your child’s athletic future in mind, and the parents needs as well. K3 knows that its tough for parents these days to run their children all over the place so thats why K3 features wifi work spaces in the sky deck for the busy parent and gym usage for the parents while their kid trains.

K3 strives to be at the forefront of building your child’s athletic future. We have built the facility and assembled the staff to do just that. We look forward to seeing many familiar faces and can’t wait to meet the new ones! Now is the time to contact us to reserve your spot for the Fall and Winter. Spaces will fill quickly so make sure you call today. Don’t leave your team or athlete out in the COLD!!!
