Juvenile arthritis (JA) also known as pediatric rheumatic disease, is an umbrella term used to describe the many autoimmune and inflammatory conditions or pediatric rheumatic diseases that can develop in children under the age of 16. In JA there is swelling or inflammation of synovium tissues that lines the inside of joints.

Although symptoms of juvenile arthritis depends upon the type of arthritis and may include:

• Limping (poor gross motor skills)
• Persistent fever
• Rash
• Weight loss
• Fatigue
• Irritability
• Eye redness or eye pain
• Blurred vision

Since symptoms are almost similar to many other diseases so diagnosis may be difficult but certain blood tests, tests or viruses, MRI, blood culture tests, test for rheumatoid factor etc may be performed to make it clear.
