Guys, glad you made the app but you have to improve it's responsiveness. Android pixel 2, 3 and 4 all have issues when scanning in... Once you scan in then close the app, it does not open the camera or it takes minutes. When opening the app initially it can take up to 30 seconds to connect to the camera and start taking an image. Sometimes it does not open the camera. Happens on 3 separate devices. The only work around is to close the app and reopen the app and hope it works.

I prefer the check in approach to the close phone contact approach. I have had no issues with the app. My only issue is that I occasionally forget to check out via the Done icon so some smart prompting would be useful to a forgetful person like me. 🙂

Android user. No troubles. Fast and responsive. Scans from over 1m right up until the QR code fills the entire screen. Good job, keep it up and thank you.

Does not work for those who are roaming, which seems like a pretty major flaw given the travel bubble. Needs to be on data to use so also no good for areas with poor connection. Having an international phone (roaming from NZ) the app is useless unless I'm on wifi.

I am a Samsung user with an international phone number. I have been in Perth 7 days so far and haven't had a single successful check in using the QR reader. I was able to log in but I get logged out continuously. Please indicate which format to enter phone number (+64 or 0064). Need to be able to manually add an entry to the diary when scanning doesn't work.

Many bugs. Unable to remember telephone number or password. Storm of error messages on loading screen. This app is supposed to protect our health and economy against a global Pandemic. Updates forget password. Worst app evah.

About this app

SafeWA (Safe WA) is a free digital COVID-19 contact register system for Western Australia.

The system, developed by the Department of Health Western Australia (WA Health) is a secure and convenient way for venue operators and patrons to easily register their attendance at relevant venues. Through a unique venue QR code, SafeWA (Safe WA) supports efficient COVID-19 contact tracing, should it be necessary, by providing a digital register of contact details for patrons attending venues.

The digital register was developed exclusively for WA Health and is provided at no cost to WA venue operators or the public, as part of mandatory requirements to maintain a contact register, and is an extra precautionary measure in line with COVID safe principles.

Key features include:

· Venue operators may register for a unique QR code or multiple codes for multi-function venues.

· Patrons can scan venue QR codes to register their attendance at the venue (name, contact telephone number,, optional email, date and log-in time).

· Attendance data is recorded solely for the purposes of contact tracing, should it be required by WA Health.

· Data is encrypted at the point of capture.

· Records are stored securely for a maximum of 28 days.

· Records are only accessible to authorised WA Health contact tracing personnel should a positive COVID-19 case be identified.
