About this app

Amref Health Africa is a leader in health development, reaching over 10 million beneficiaries annually, towards achieving its vision of a lasting health change in Africa. Amref is not only facilitating the delivery of health services to the African communities, it is also instrumental in building the capacity of communities and health systems in Africa. Amref, working with other development partners have influenced health policy and practice in Africa. However, Amref’s effort in influencing health policy and practice, has been impeded by data inadequacy, resulting to weak evidence on priority indicators e.g. maternal health, water and sanitation, among others.

The Omnibus is an Amref’s initiative whose objective is to continually collect data from the beneficiaries reached within her programme sites and maintain a data repository for learning and advocacy. It comprises of a set of selected questions on topical areas of interest which are administered on monthly basis to beneficiaries reached by Amref programmes. All Amref programmes/projects are required to participate in the omnibus exercise every month. The project officers are responsible for filling at least 10 omnibus questionnaires every month, and uploading the responses on the mobile application to be uploaded to the web based database hosted at Amref HQ server. The monitoring and evaluation/ Research Team at Headquarters retrieves data, analyses and generates omnibus reports quarterly.

Amref defines beneficiaries as a segment of target population who have directly been reached with service. The avenues for administering omnibus questionnaire could be household, health facility, community or group meetings. Beneficiaries who will participate in the interview are selected randomly.
