About this app

This resurgence of pink bollworm infestation across all three cotton-growing zones of India poses a significant threat to cotton production, jeopardizing the livelihoods of cotton farmers and impacting the Indian economy. Over the past 8-9 years, pink bollworm has emerged as a serious menace on Bt cotton in India, causing widespread damage and substantial yield losses ranging from 20% to 30%. The primary aim of this project is to disseminate pink bollworm management strategies tailored for Bt cotton cultivation. Through the integration of various approaches targeting different growth stages of the cotton crop, the project endeavors to combat this economically significant pest. In the forthcoming year, 2024-25, the project will extend its implementation to encompass 21 districts across 8 states. This expansion reflects the urgency and scope of the challenge posed by pink bollworm infestation and underscores the necessity of concerted efforts to safeguard cotton yields and the livelihoods of cotton farmers.
