About this app

recoVRy uses ‘virtual reality’ experience to create 360° immersive stories not only entertain audiences but help them to understand, empathise with and reduce discriminatory behaviours towards challenging experiences.

The edutainment platform will be equally valuable for people with Lived Experience and their families as it will be for clinicians, employers and the public as it seeks to normalise mental health challenges, focussing on strength and recovery. The first movie is a theatrical exploration of post-partum depression and psychosis over three generations of women with a second, documentary-style movie in development which focusses on a kaupapa Māori spiritual approach to healing.

App Features:

● Google VR(Cardboard) headset required
● Mockingbird VR – First story is based on the real stories of 4 generations of women from the same family, 4 characters across history tell their own stories of experiencing PND/P and the discrimination they faced. Presented like live theatre in Virtual Reality, this story will use directional sound, dark-comic theatre techniques and live musicianship to fully engage and interact with the VR participant.
● Playback controls to control your experience
