1) Requests

Teach Mate enables you to reach out to people in a specific location with any form of requests or alerts.The requests can be raised either from the user’s current location or from the user’s registered location. Once the request is raised, in the backend, the users for whom this request is applicable are retrieved based on the registered locations. Presently, if either of the user’s registered location falls in a 10 kilometer square area from where the request was raised (in case of request from current location) or from either of the requesting user’s registered location (in case of request from registered location), the request will be assigned.

2)Responses

Whenever requests are assigned to any user, a push notification lands on the device to alert the user and the user can view the request made. If the user feels capable of helping, he/she can respond to request by sending a response message. The user who made the request receives the response and based on the message, can take a decision on whether to receive help from the responding user.

Use Cases

1. Organizations including NGOs putting out alerts for teaching assistance for a rural or government school – There are many organizations like Youth for Seva or Teach for India to name a few that go to certain underprivileged areas and conduct teaching camps and they require part-time volunteers. This app can be used to put out such requests for a specific locality.

2. Requests for used books or stationary– Text books being as expensive as it is, needy student can request for used books from people in the nearby neighborhood and quite possibly there might be students who don’t need those books anymore and be willing to part with it or loan it out.

3. Tutor assistance– An average student more often than not needs assistance on some or the other topic in his syllabus and privileged students nowadays even have private tutors that they can approach. The same luxury is not available to underprivileged students either due to monetary restrictions or accessibility reasons. This app allows such students to ask for assistance to strangers who may be willing to help them out even remotely. This app presents a way for even busy people to give back to the society with ease.

4. Project Collaboration – If a user is working on a project and needs help on it, he can use this app to reach out to people in the neighborhood with the specifications and requirements to find people with similar background interested in collaborating with the user. The user can choose whether or not to accept based on responding user’s qualification.

Chat

The user receiving a response for his request can acknowledge the response by starting a chat with the responding user to explain the request in detail and to receive further assistance. The chat functionality is strictly one-on-one and text based.


Question Forum

The secondary functionality of the application is a Question Forum where a user can view Questions and their corresponding replies posted by other users. A user can also post Questions himself/herself for which the users may choose to reply. Also, the user can reply to questions posted by other users if he/she desires to.
