This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Sophos Secure Email on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Folders only update if you open them, and then, updating those folders is extremely slow. Latest update enabled "message preview" with no option in Settings to modify or disable this.

Very unstable app with a lot of annoying issues. Crashes when receiving certain emails, doesn't show notifications for new emails and much more...

This worked reasonably but now notifications have stopped sounding. The only setting that uses the assigned notification ringtone is 'Real Push Notification' which doesn't give any sender or subject details in the notification - all other options are now silent, which is not fantastically useful. Please look into this - I reported this to appsupport but have had no reply after 5 days... (have tried uninstalling, re-registering etc)

Again and app that worked has problems after an update. Do you actually do any testing before you release. It seems each release has issue. For those having the same problem one of the issues can be resolved by enabling a pass code on the container in the policy.

it crashes more than it works, it consumes a huge ammount of memory and cpu, and it is very slow in synchronizing everything. A good idea, extremely bad implemented. I have to use it because of company policy, but I would never recommend it

very nice features with some major issues. 1. Crashes several times per day on Pixel 2 XL 2. Notifications only on inbox 3. Huge battery drain with push enabled. 25% of battery use in 19 hours Was hoping to roll out to corp users but not with those three issues. Too bad.

Sophos Secure Email is a containerized and secure email app that lets you fully separate enterprise and private data on your device. It handles the corporate emails, contacts and calendar from the company’s Exchange server. Corporate data is protected with AES-256 encryption and the export of data is controlled by the company’s Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rules. Sophos Secure Email allows the implementation of BYOD programs and fulfills advanced data protection needs in selected industries like finance, government or healthcare.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Sophos Secure Email app works only in combination with the Sophos Mobile Control Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) software. Please check with your IT department whether your company uses Sophos Mobile Control. If it does not, please do not install this app as it will not operate without the corresponding EMM server.

ENROLLMENT STEPS
Usually, the app is pushed to your device during the enrollment with Sophos Mobile Control:
1. After installation and configuration through the EMM server, open the app.
2. If requested, enter the container passcode.
3. The app starts to sync data with your email account.
