Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing SnapAttendance Time Clock on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. The concept is solid but the implementation is so-so. I set this up on an inexpensive Android tablet and mounted it to the wall in the employee break room. Our employees check in and out for their shifts and breaks using the app. We track their hours through the web interface. This works well overall. However, there is a learning curve for our employees and many had difficulty using the app reliably. (1) I wish it was much clearer showing when you are clocked-IN vs clocked-OUT. The photo brightens up and the check-in time shows but a small graphic saying "IN" vs "OUT" would be helpful. (2) You can adjust the hours in the web interface but you can't simply check people in and out manually. This is annoying if someone forgot to check-out because unless they are told, they will simply check-out in the morning when they arrive and keep putting in incorrect punches. (3) The photo recognition thing is totally non-functioning as far as my experience goes. (4) For the cost, you really can't ask for more, though. It is a good system for a small business. I hope the devs can continue improving it.
