Ive never been to a resort that offers this service. In my own experience, the shuttle response time was very fast. I like the qr scan at the stop to make it easier.

the order ahead feature doesnt work, I requested a shuttle to the village twice to pick up ~30 min from when I was requesting it and despite confirmation, the request was not processed and we were not picked up

It's not perfect but the people bagging on this app are being way too harsh. It's an app that summons a shuttle that picks you up at your house/condo and drops you off at the mountain. There are zero other resorts in Tahoe that offer this service, much less a smartphone app to leverage it. When you request a ride, it takes some time before the driver acknowledges the request but eventually adds you to the queue. (This is exactly like Lyft or Uber.) Once you're in the queue, you can see the shuttle on the map and roughly gauge how long before it arrives to pick you up. They have experimented with text alerts to notify you of an arriving vehicle, which I think would be great, but at the time of this review it seems to be in experimental mode -- One of the biggest challenges with this service is either waiting outside for a long time (in cold, snowy conditions) or sitting inside the warmth and missing your ride (or making people wait while you lug all your stuff to the bus). Alerts could help address this problem. Works pretty well and with ongoing tweaks could be perfect.
