In an effort to provide the farming community in India with the most robust informational and commerce-enabling tool available, several Indian-based and international companies have joined forces to create Agroway, a mobile application distributed on android handsets using available digital connectivity to provide farmers a resource that can truly help productivity. The goal is to offer farmers not just information regarding weather, trends, markets, and promotions…but to also be able to connect farmers with suppliers and buyers of product – doing all of this with a location-aware capability and hyper local sensibility. The result is a resource for both production and planning…and actual commerce opportunities…all intended to support and grow such a vital part of the country’s economy.

This solution is aimed at complete Agriculture Industry vertical. Keeping farmer as the centric this will be a very useful tool of communication for the entire agriculture ecosystem. Farmer, Traders, Transporters, Food Processing Industries, Veterinary and all the businesses those provide service to farmers or are depended on the agriculture are the prospective customers of Agroway.

Agroway will help the farmer grow and also sell his crop directly. He will be able to put his crop details for sell by giving his own price that can be accessed by thousands of interested Traders, Export companies, Food Processing Industries and Aggregators not from all over the state/ different part of the country. Transporter search would be easy and faster to transport his crops once the deal is reached.

Farmers now can avail services from the service providers like Pump repairer, Electricians, Drip repairer / installers, Veterinary doctors etc at competitive rates as these service providers of nearby his village and Taluka can be accessed by him on Agroway.




The Product

Agroway is a mobile platform will be available on Google Play. It will be in the language most appropriate for the area(s) of distribution.



Software There are two primary pieces to the software that are imbedded in the app that:

App Content – Agroway is a content environment that allows farmers to get the latest information in the key areas of:

Weather –National, regional, and local…complete with trends, planning, and soil updates

Markets – Latest analysis regarding the specific markets for agriculture products

Technology – Latest information from manufacturers and consultants on new farming capabilities, equipment, and innovations…

Schemes/Promotions – Insights into special offers and deals and resources from government and related agencies

Media – Content area for videos to be distributed detailing latest news for agriculture segments in specific regions

Community – Ability for farmers to share information and ideas with each other…though a Facebook interface

Buy/Sell– A single destination that allows buyers and sellers to browse/promote product, produce, and services within customized geographic parameters/proximity (determined by the end-user)

Messaging – Additionally, software is embedded into the app itself that allows the publishing entity, in this case the Agroway developer team but it could be, later, that the government has direct publishing capabilities on the “schemes” tab, to push messages, be they broadcast or rich in nature, to the
farmers. These messages can be alerts on weather…or new incentive programs…and these messages can be formatted for a subset of the farmer community (say farmers for a specific crop) or they can be formatted based on time and/or location.
