About this app

Castro y González es una firma de producción de Jamón Ibérico de Guijuelo creada en el año 1910, por Aurelio Castro, cuando su actividad se reducía al sacrificio de dos cerdos a la semana para venderlo de manera muy local. Ya en estos inicios, el producto que se ofrecía era de alta calidad y con el reconocimiento de ser un cerdo ibérico puro de campo.

En los años 40 del pasado siglo, la empresa experimentó un empuje que obligó a aumentar la producción y a comenzar la distribución nacional a través de mayoristas, aunque sin abandonar al público final. Desde estos principios, Castro y González ha respetado las costumbres tradicionales de la curación del Jamón tal y como se hace en Guijuelo.

Otro hito importante en el devenir de esta histórica empresa se produce a partir de los años 90 con la consecución de una cabaña propia porcina que permite el control absoluto del producto, que es así, homogéneo en su calidad y en su producción.

Actualmente, al frente de Castro y González se sitúa la tercera generación. Y para acometer el siglo XXI han comenzado un proceso de internacionalización que les ha llevado a posicionar sus productos en Europa, América y Asia.

En España, los productos de Castro y González se comercializan a través de distribuidores que a su vez venden el producto en tiendas gourmet y restaurantes.

Los distribuidores son una parte importante de la compañía ya que a través de ellos llega el producto a los consumidores, tanto profesionales y del canal HORECA, como al público final en tiendas especializadas en alta charcutería.
