About this app

PD Hawk™ App
Using this app will require the PD Hawk™ to be attached to a smart phone or tablet (running Android 4.2 or above) via the supplied USB cable within the accessories supplied with each PD Hawk™ purchased.

Data will be recorded directly from the PD Hawk™ and allow the user to view the data at a later date. With the app having the ability to automatically distinguish which mode the PD Hawk™ is in and will either save automatically or allow the user to activate the recording.

Live updates are shown on screen whilst the app is connected to the PD Hawk™. Each report can be reviewed in “View Reports” within the app’s navigation menu. The app allows users to swipe through all saved data, in a chronological order, selecting which mode and day of recorded data to view. The app also has the ability to select which data from one day of recordings to attach and be emailed but will also attach both the saved CSV file and a screenshot of the display plot.

This app can ONLY be used in conjunction with EA Technology’s PD Hawk™.

About the PD Hawk™
The only instrument of its kind, the rugged, handheld, battery-powered PD Hawk™ is straight forward to operate and uniquely fast and accurate. Allowing electrical engineers to scan entire switchyards in minutes and locate partial discharge (PD) emissions from a distance, the PD Hawk™ offers valuable time and cost savings and needs no specialized training to operate.

The PD Hawk™ can be tuned to measure emissions in the 47-1000 MHz frequency range – its factory default of around 800 MHz is designed to tune out non-PD emissions including non-destructive corona activity and eliminate false readings from wireless sources such as TV towers and mobile phones.

The operator can safely listen to emissions on the PD Hawk™ built-in speaker and/or over headphones; signals can also be viewed on the instrument’s menu-driven colour display as magnitude, frequency and pulse timing.
