Philanthropy is always exciting because it challenges us to creatively use our resources to address issues that affect us, our families and our communities. At Pass It Forward, we looked at what we can do and how we can participate in the giving community – but like all our passions – we wanted to make a big bang. By combining our passion for technology and our desire to do good – we built Pass It Forward. And we are so pleased to share it with you. The internet has facilitated access, connectivity, transparency and accountability to a whole new level in the giver – receiver paradigm; but we aim to take it one step further at Pass It Forward. 1. We flattened the multi-layered relationships and changed the way givers and requestors interact – how they give, how they work together to create social change and how they hold each other accountable to maximize social good. It allows givers to connect with organizations and the people that directly benefit from their generous gestures. 2. Our integrated giveback model changes the outmoded way charity was once practiced – that there are only donors and recipients. On Pass It Forward, a receiver can now be a giver. We provide equal opportunities for all – everyone can be givers and receivers. The thoughtfulness behind a giveback inspires all of us to re-think how everyone can truly give from the heart as well as the mind. 3. Technology allows us to bring equal opportunities for large and small nonprofits to raise awareness and request much needed support for their programs. Through direct interaction with experts working on issue areas such as education, healthcare, etc., we learn the best approaches for tackling these issues. We may not be able to eradicate poverty – but by bringing people together in already available online and offline relationships to form large-scale collaborations – and releasing their power and good intentions, we can create positive layers of collective global action. 4. Pass It Forward promotes transparency and freedom of choice to givers. Donors no longer need to give reactively and to organizations with large marketing budgets. With access to experts, data and reactions of those benefiting from gifts, givers can now maximize their impact – from a small gift to a significant investment. Pass It Forward is transforming the way we engage and address local and global issues and supporters like you have a voice in how we do it.
