Pathology Update 2017 is the annual scientific educational meeting for the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Pathology Update 2017 is the only conference of its kind in Australasia and brings together all pathology professionals from the eight different disciplines of pathology. Pathology Update 2017 brings internationally renowned pathologists to Sydney too present in the field that they are experts in. Pathology Update can be considered the most significant Australasian educational meeting for pathologists.

Pathology Update forms an essential annual meeting where members of different diagnostic disciplines and from all the states and territories of Australia as well as New Zealand and other South East Asian countries can meet to discuss the latest, and most useful diagnostic processes. Pathology Update 2017 is a complex conference with seven core discipline program streams, combined sessions, workshops, over one hundred and twenty local and interstate speakers, nine international speakers over fourty five program chairs and program committees, which brings together pathologists, trainees, scientists, administrators and health care workers from Australasia and other parts of the world for three days of education in all aspects of pathology.

Pathology Update 2017 has several purposes. As the name suggests it is an educational update for RCPA College Fellows, trainees and scientists in their respective disciplines. It also addresses professional and scientific issues for physicians, general practitioners, health care professionals and medical administrators. It provides an opportunity for networking, sharing of ideas and the dissemination of learning across disciplines.

Pathology Update 2017 brings together all the disciplines of pathology, Anatomical Pathology, Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Immunopathology, Microbiology, Forensic, Genetic, General and Paediatric Pathology along with the three faculties of College the Faculty of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Clinical Forensic Medicine. Pathology Update 2017 is a three day scientific program with Innovation plenaries as part of the scientific program on each day. Ongoing education of fellows, trainees and scientists is necessary to ensure current best practice and to fulfil professional requirements for continual practice improvement through the CPDP program of the College.
