Idea is good. Integrating the content (antibiotic resistance) with the game mechanics could be clearer. What are antibiotics? What do weapons have to do with resistance? Why are we "upgrading" our antibiotic capabilities? Why is Agent Penny named that way (penicillin)? Controls are awful. Why put the change weapon button far from the actual attack button?? And the fact that I can't orient my attacks or autotarget makes it very difficult to fight.

I have gone through so many independently produced mobile games (especially platformers and arcade action types) that I can honestly say, this one can definitely hold its own on the market. A really rare theme too with an advocacy to educate--wouldve been great if the first playthrough forces you into How to Play automatically, just so Penny could talk to me abt antibiotic resistance as intended. Or beautiful cut scenes showing me how bacteria grows stronger every time i fail to take the dose? Im being too ambitious. Honestly, the game is beautiful enough as it is. This is fantastic.

About this app

Private Penny: The Resistance is part of the requirements for the undergraduate thesis of a fine arts major and two game development majors studying at Ateneo de Mania University. The game is still a work in progress.

The main inspiration for the Private Penny: The Resistance is antibiotic resistance. Bacteria are increasingly being resistant to currently known antibiotics, which poses a threat to the health of the populace. One of the major factors for this occurrence is the misuse and abuse of antibiotics, which can easily be avoided by educating consumers about their medical choices and their consequences. Antibiotic resistance poses a serious threat to the health of humans because as more and more bacteria grow resistant to currently existing antibiotics, more and more people are at risk for bacterial infections, some of which can be lethal.

The creators of the game hope to inform the public about antibiotic resistance and what can be done to avoid furthering this phenomena.

This build is what we used to gain data for our study. Still has a couple of bugs here and there, and can use some optimization and code management.
