زیارت عاشورا، امام حسین(ع) اور کربلا میں آپ کے باوفا اصحاب کی زیارت اور واقعہ عاشورا کی یاد تازہ کرنے کیلئے پڑھی جاتی ہے۔ یہ زیارت امام محمد باقر(ع) سے نقل ہوئی ہے اور شیعہ کے نزدیک اس کی خاص اہمیت ہے۔

زیارت عاشورا کے بارے میں معصومین سے کئی احادیث نقل ہوئی ہیں۔ "علقمہ بن محمد حضر" امام محمد باقر(ع) سے نقل کرتے ہیں: جو شخص زیارت عاشورا پڑھے اور اس کے بعد دو رکعت نماز ادا کرے تو اس کا ثواب یہ ہے کہ اس مومن کے دس لاکھ گناہ معاف کئے جاتے ہیں اور بہشت میں اس کے دس لاکھ درجے بڑھا دئے جاتے ہیں۔ اسی طرح زیارت عاشورا پڑھنے والا اس شخص کی مانند ہے جو امام حسین(ع) کی رکاب میں شہادت کے عظیم مقام پر فائز ہوئے ہوں اور ان کے درجات میں شریک ہوگا اسی طرح تمام انبیاء اور ان تمام افراد کے ثواب میں شریک ہوگا جنہوں نے امام حسین(ع) کی شہادت کے وقت زیارت کی ہیں۔

چنانچہ علقمہ کہتے ہیں: امام باقر(ع) نے زیارت عاشورا کو نقل کرنے کے بعد فرمایا: اے علقمہ: اگر اپنی زندگی میں ہر روز اس زیارت کے ذریعے امام حسین(ع) کی زیارت کرسکو تو ایسا ضرور کرو، اگر ایسا کروگے تو تمہیں مذکورہ بالا تمام زیارتوں کا ثواب ملے گا۔
