Advertises as a commentary, but is very light on comments from Chas. Spurgeon. What it is not light on is ads. Nothing brings you closer to God than having your study time interrupted with a pitch for real estate or solar energy options in your area. There seem to be at least three of these apps in the store; and all function exactly the same. Garish ads blinking at the bottom, then a complete redirect to and ad thar has to be closed after a 5 second wait period. Same developer? Uninstalling.

I wish this app had a feature that would let you define audio length rather than just on chapter. Otherwise it is very good

The explanations are superb and far reaching, but the apps are always sopping half way.

I'm enjoying the content and layout but there's a Glitch which causes the app to lose my place while I'm reading. Slightest touch to random parts of the screen takes me back or forward by a chapter when I'm swiping up to read further down the page, or sometimes I haven't touched the page at all. It's almost like a timer. Also, I thought I would be able to change the background color. I prefer darker so I don't use this app as much as I'd like to because the bright white bothers my eyes.

This app is in immediate need for editing and revision. Not only do your commentaries not match the scripture they are listed under, ex. I look up Corinthians Chapter 11 to find the commentary for Corinthians Chapter 10, but the scripture references used do not match the commentary so if I look up the scripture reference I don't receive any additional insight. It is already difficult to accurately interpret scripture, and I downloaded this app for additional assistance. Currently it's failing.

Not as advertised The Spurgeon content is hit-and-miss. Many books, especially in the OT, have NO commentary at all. Also, there is a permanent ad displayed at the bottom of every screen, constantly. Not a very nice accompaniment to reading the word of God.

Charles Spurgeon was an English Baptist preacher, well known for his sermons.

Spurgeon, “The Prince of Preachers” was born in Essex in 1834. He was baptized and began to serve in a Baptist Church.

When he was 20, he became pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel in London, the largest Baptiste congregation at the time. He preached there for 38 years.

His style and ability as a preacher made him famous in a few months. His sermons were published every week and had a high circulation.
By the date of his death, in 1892, he had preached more than 3000 sermons and had written plenty of commentaries, anecdotes, and devotions.

His weekly sermons are still one of the best-selling series of writings in history.
