About this app

रामायण हिन्दू रघुवंश के राजा राम की गाथा है। । यह आदि कवि वाल्मीकि द्वारा लिखा गया संस्कृत का एक अनुपम महाकाव्य, स्मृति का वह अंग है। इसे आदिकाव्य तथा इसके रचयिता महर्षि वाल्मीकि को 'आदिकवि' भी कहा जाता है। रामायण के सात अध्याय हैं जो काण्ड के नाम से जाने जाते हैं, इसके २४,००० श्लोक हैं। इन सात काण्ड के नाम निम्न हैं -

बालकाण्ड
अयोध्याकाण्ड
अरण्यकाण्ड
किष्किन्धाकाण्ड
सुंदरकाण्ड
लंकाकाण्ड (युद्धकाण्ड)
उत्तरकाण्ड

इसका अनुवाद महाकवि श्री तुलसीदास जी के द्वारा किया गया था । हिन्दू शास्त्रों के अनुसार भगवान राम, विष्णु के मानव अवतार थे। इस अवतार का उद्देश्य मृत्युलोक में मानवजाति को आदर्श जीवन के लिये मार्गदर्शन देना था। अन्ततः श्रीराम ने राक्षस जाति के राजा रावण का वध किया और धर्म की पुनर्स्थापना की।

यह ग्रन्थ श्री राम जी के रूप में एक आदर्श मनुष्य, माता सीता के रूप में एक आदर्श पतिव्रता नारी, श्री हनुमान जी के रूप में एक आदर्श भक्त एवं लक्ष्मण के रूप में एक आज्ञाकारी भाई के चरित्र को उजागर करती है | भरत का चरित्र एक भाई का अपने भाई के लिए असीम प्रेम को व्यक्त करता है | इनके अलावा इस ग्रन्थ के अन्य पत्र शत्रुघ्न, राजा दशरथ, माता कौशल्या, सुमित्रा तथा कैकेयी, लव-कुश आदि है |
