Latest update causes the battery usage to go sky high and the phone to heat up noticeably to the touch. That's with background activity turned on. When background is turned off battery usage seems normal, but audio keeps stopping, presumably to load more audio. Other responses to reviews said to turn on background activity but I've found that is not workable. I sent a message to tech support via the app but no response. Using a Samsung S9.

A tool for information gathering, not in a good way. The news should be front and center but you have to dig for it. It incessantly tries to install the Waze app. Difficult to find real news and real shows under a mountain of uselessness. I wish there was a way to only have news and marketplace in my listing options but instead I have to dig for them every time. Its own commercials insisting you sign in are obnoxious.

Cast button has gone from main player. You have to navigate to a specific program to see it anymore. Put it back in the main player please. That's just confusing UI. If you click on link and just play a program the icon doesn't appear reliably. If you got into a specific program like planet money and play something it appears. That's a horrible ux.

App continues to stop after 2 or 3 minutes. Very rarely am I able to listen to a whole story before the app stops and I have to restart it. I have messaged about this before and they did get back to me about how to fix the issue. I followed the instructions but it has not helped...

Ever since I discovered this app I've been happy. Listen to it when I run a lot. It's the Pandora of podcasts with NPR news updates thrown in. Would be 5 stars but I'm not a fan of their new UI update. I think the previous layout was much easier for me to use. My biggest annoyance is a large play button upon opening which plays something new, instead of resuming something I haven't finished from last time. My mind subconsciously hits it based on the previous UI and in my opinion is wasted space

Really just the worst app, has connectivity issues leading to me skipping through 100 true crime podcasts or shows for children first thing in the morning when I'm just trying to listen to the morning news. Edit: received a broken link from your staff. I'm done with this app, the content is becoming worthless drivel about how the pandemic is over even though more than half of Americans are totally unvaccinated. Do your jobs, npr.
