This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing PestSmart Factsheets Library on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. About this app

The PestSmart app is part of a package called PestSmart: Diagnostics which contains Pest management decision guides (PMDGs) for extension workers. PestSmart: Diagnostics uses CABI expertise in plant health and diseases to provide a suite of educational and practical tools that teach recognition of the symptoms of major pathogen and pest groups and relate them to various causes.

Consisting of 4 complementary elements, the package helps plant health professionals and students to develop and improve their knowledge through practical, independent learning. Containing high-quality photos, case studies and knowledge checks, the eLearning Diagnostics course, Diagnostics Simulator app, PestSmart app and the Diagnostic Field Guide eBook work together to reinforce learning and enable diagnosis of key crop problems.

PMDGs in the PestSmart app are prepared for use by plant doctors and extension workers to identify safe and effective available methods of prevention, monitoring and control of pests according to best IPM practices. These factsheets include information that is specific to the country. Direct Control Options without Restrictions provide information in prevention, monitoring and physical or biologically-based controls, whilst the Direct Control Options with Restrictions provide information on chemical controls and their restrictions for safe use.

PMDGs are validated by technical reviewers to check that the recommendations are safe and follow sound scientific principles.
