Using BlueStacks

About this app

A Escola situa-se na Avenida Dr. Manuel Gaspar de Lemos, freguesia de S. Julião, numa zona escolar e residencial, na parte nordeste da cidade. Envolve-a um espaço verde - o Parque das Abadias e a Mata de Santa Catarina.

A Escola entrou em funcionamento no dia 25 de Outubro de 1968, com a designação de Escola Preparatória Dr. João de Barros. O seu patrono é um ilustre figueirense que se destacou no ensino, nas letras, na política e no jornalismo.

Até 1972/73, ano em que se transfere para as actuais instalações, a Escola Preparatória esteve instalada na Rua da Artilharia 2, no antigo Liceu da cidade, assim como na velha Academia Figueirense, na Rua Dr. Santos Rocha.

Desde o ano lectivo 1994/95, funciona com o 2º e 3º Ciclos, decidido pela Portaria nº 495/95, de 24 de Maio, que determina a extinção da Escola Preparatória Dr. João de Barros, criando a Escola do 2º e 3º Ciclos Dr. João de Barros, a partir de 1 de Setembro de 1995.

A partir de 1 de Setembro de 2003 a escola passou a constituir-se como sede do Agrupamento de Escolas da Zona Urbana da Figueira da Foz.
