About this app

Aan het begin van de herfst is het groot feest in de stad! De straten vullen zich met gezelligheid, koeienshows en een grote markt. De Woerdense Koeiemart is een eeuwenoude traditie. Dit evenement wordt jaarlijks georganiseerd.

Sinds 1410 heeft Woerden marktrechten. Van oudsher werd vee op de koeiemart verhandeld en stonden de straten vol met beesten. Ruim 600 eerdere edities van deze markten hebben Woerden inmiddels beroemd gemaakt! De Koeiemart is sinds 2017 geplaatst op de Inventaris Immaterieel Cultureel Erfgoed.

Tegenwoordig is de koeiemart een groot feest in de stad, waarbij de koeien van boeren te bewonderen zijn in koeienshows. Iedere herfst weer bruist het in de stad met een kermis, warenmarkt en streekmarkt. De koeiemart is een reünie voor alle boerenfamilies en een trotse dag voor de hele regio.

Woerden is de hoofdstad van het Groene Hart. Het kloppend hart, waar stad en land elkaar ontmoeten. Waar koeien grazen en kazen worden gemaakt. De gemeente heeft met haar dorpskernen een uniek en open landschap dat samengaat met een eigentijds en historisch stadshart.
