About this app

Introduction:

Synth Strings is a simple Android musical keyboard app that features realistic sounds for the following instruments: Orchestral Strings, Violin, Cello, Pizzicato, Orchestra Hit, and Grand Piano. The musical keyboard app boasts of five (5) octaves and a maximum of thirteen (13) note polyphony, where users can play thirteen notes simultaneously without loss. The sounds are preset and sound parameters cannot be changed as compared to real synthesizer keyboards. The tuning is preset at 440 kHz standard tuning or ISO 16 and cannot be changed. While it is intended for personal entertainment purposes or as a pocket musical toy, Synth Strings can also be used to tune physical instruments, to identify notes while studying unfamiliar tunes, and possibly perform with other users as an ensemble while using the app.

Features:

Optimized for medium sized smartphones, Synth Strings will work for larger screens though the keyboard will not resize or adapt to fill larger screen. A separate package for larger screens is under development. Synth Strings layout is designed for one touch quick access while changing preferences and parameters. The keyboard consists of thirteen keys with a default instrument set to Strings, and octave set to play from C5 to C6. Changing octaves is simple and is achieved by touching the corresponding octave number at the octave buttons array located at the left side of the keyboard. Changing instrument sounds is also a one touch event and is achieved by touching the corresponding buttons located at the top of the keyboard. Staccato playing style for Strings, Violin, Cello, and Grand Piano is not supported but can be achieved using Pizzicato instead. Sustaining the notes for Strings, Violin, and Cello can be achieved through successive touching of the particular key or keys in focus. The Grand Piano sounds are preset with certain amount of sustain and cannot be changed for an abrupt stop as in Staccato style.

With all the simplicity mentioned above, the app is easy to use and also enjoyable in a certain way.
